If all lives matter (and they do), why are black (and other minority) lives valued less than white lives in some communities (Baltimore and Furguson to name but two) and by some authorities and even by elected presidents of the United States (see Mr. Trump’s defendant status in litigation alleging discriminatory real estate rental and sale actions years ago.)?
Today’s a good day to read the “Letter …” in full and think on that question.
And another: from slavery to Jim Crow to malignant racism still festering today, what, beside the law itself, has really changed in America? We as a culture and a nation are no better than how we treat our neediest and most vulnerable; legal, illegal, citizen or refugee. No nation can be considered “great” whose citizens de-value others.
America can not be “great again” if, in this regard, it never was great to begin with.
Think on it.
