John R. Schindler debunks claims that a “deep state” is at work in the US government, spilling secrets and telling lies about Mr. Trump. He explains the origin of the phrase “deep state” in Atatürk’s Turkey, and contrasts that country’s intelligence community (IC) with ours.
Revelatory is his assertion that while the main of FBI agents are of conservative stripe, CIA analysts tend liberal.
Below is a snippet from later in the piece echoing what I’ve read elsewhere. The gist I’m getting is that General Flynn was but the first domino.
What was Flynn’s downfall? Lying to the vice president? That’s political cover. His sin was what he lied about – contacts with the Russian government. I’m reading that the rabbit hole goes deeper, not only for Flynn.
There’s something deeply wrong about Mr. Trump’s administration right near the top. If you’re no fan of Mr. Trump’s, or if you consider yourself an American first, Trumpist second, you should find yourself some good sources with deeper knowledge and start boning up.
The Russia angle is most troubling to the IC. Behind closed doors, plenty of American intelligence experts believe that President Trump is the pawn of the Kremlin, wittingly or not, and assess that it’s only a matter of time before unseemly Moscow ties are exposed and the White House enters unsurvivable political crisis.

Yes, that would be much worse than Watergate. Bigly.
