Trump Throws "His" Generals Under the Bus

Mr. Trump explains his way out of ultimate responsibility for military personnel under his command (ABC News):

Trump said Tuesday, “They explained what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected. My generals are the most respected we’ve had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan.”

“And they lost Ryan.”

President Harry Truman had a sign on his desk reading, “the buck stops here.” Where else could it stop? The president bears ultimate authority and ultimate responsibility. Rather than take responsibility for the loss of a Navy SEAL on his watch, Trump passed the buck to “his” generals, who are largely the same generals who served under the recently retired President Obama.

They’ll accept that responsibility, I suspect, as their duty. The despicable cretin occupying our Oval Office has no shame, no dense of duty, and no moral agency. A president who will not own the military actions he authorizes has no credibility and no business commanding our armed forces.
